The Mito Plant of TANIOBIS Japan Earns Platinum Status in RBA Assessment
The Mito Plant of JX Metals Group company TANIOBIS Japan Co., Ltd. (President: Shuji Makino) earned the full 200 points available under the Validated Assessment Program's (VAP) audit process that assesses compliance with the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct, earning the highest platinum status under the RBA program. The assessment is valid until November 2, 2024.
The RBA is an industry organization chiefly comprised of companies such as electronics manufacturers and their components suppliers. Many of our customers in the semiconductor materials field are RBA members, dedicated to improving social, environmental, and ethical conditions in their global supply chains. Our Group is continually raising the standards of the labor, health and safety, environmental, ethical, and management systems in its semiconductor materials operations in line with the RBA Code of Conduct. Carried out by an RBA-approved audit firm, the VAP assessment evaluates the establishment of management systems and compliance with standards.
TANIOBIS Japan's Mito Plant manufactures functional tantalum powder used in sputtering targets for semiconductors produced at JX Metal's Isohara Works. The plant underwent VAP assessment on this occasion to gain an objective evaluation of its activities to date. As a result, it earned platinum status, demonstrating its commitment to meeting customer demands for compliance with the RBA Code of Conduct.
TANIOBIS Japan's Mito Plant is the third Our Group operating site to earn platinum status in an RBA assessment, following the Isohara Works (in April 2022) and the Chigasaki Plant of Toho Titanium Co., Ltd. (in June 2021). The latter's activities include manufacturing titanium raw materials for the Isohara Works. We believe this signifies steady progress in our Group's concerted efforts to make ESG-related improvements and also testifies to the transparency of the supply chain in our semiconductor materials operations.
Our Group will continue to enhance its ESG efforts, aiming to achieve stable supply of advanced materials underpinned by supply chain transparency right from the raw materials stage. Through such efforts, the Group will contribute to creating sustainable societies across the entire global supply chain.
