JX Advanced Metals Corporation
Decision to Acquire Industrial Land Adjoining New Hitachinaka Factory (Tentative Name)
JX Advanced Metals Corporation (President: Hayashi Yoichi; hereinafter, "the Company") today announced the decision to acquire an approximately 94,000 m2 plot of land from Ibaraki Prefecture. The plot is located in the city of Hitachinaka in Ibaraki Prefecture and adjoins the site of the Company's new Hitachinaka Factory (tentative name; hereinafter, "the New Factory"), where a construction project is currently underway.
The JX Advanced Metals Long-Term Vision 2040 calls for contributing to the growth and innovation of society as a global leader in semiconductor and other advanced materials. As one of the measures toward realizing this Vision, the Company in 2022 acquired a large plot of land in the city of Hitachinaka in Ibaraki Prefecture, with the intention of making it a new core base for advanced materials. Buildings are currently being constructed on this site relating to production of sputtering targets for semiconductors, a mainstream product of the Company for which demand is expected to expand further in the future.
The Company has now decided to acquire an approximately 94,000 m2 industrial plot of land that is adjacent to the New Factory site on the north side. The purpose, in keeping with the Long-Term Vision, is to secure the space for further boosting of capability in existing businesses and for creation and commercialization of new businesses. This acquisition, along with the existing land area of approximately 224,000 m2, will increase the total area for the New Factory site to approximately 318,000 m2.
Since the land to be newly acquired is located adjacent to the New Factory site where construction work is already underway, use can be made of the utilities already in place, including electricity, gas, water, and security-related equipment, as well as an employee dormitory and other employee welfare facilities, enabling savings in investment and costs along with efficient business operation. Moreover, the Group already has operating sites in the cities of Hitachi, Kitaibaraki, Hitachinaka, and Hitachiomiya, and the town of Ami, all in Ibaraki Prefecture. Through the establishment of a new Ibaraki Office integrating the administrative and back-office departments of these Ibaraki Prefecture sites and transfer of some Head Office functions to the prefecture, the Company has been strengthening the business structure by unified operation of these sites. The new land acquisition is expected to further promote this initiative.
In keeping with the JX Advanced Metals Long-Term Vision 2040, the Company will continue to carry out measures toward transforming into a technology-based company, with the aim of becoming a global company contributing to the growth and innovation of society through advanced materials.
