Technology Development Center Issues Self-Declaration of Conformity to ISO 9001
JX Advanced Metals Corporation (President: Hayashi Yoichi; hereinafter, the "Company") hereby announces that its Technology Development Center in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, has issued a self-declaration of conformity1) to ISO 9001, the international standard for quality management systems.
Under the "JX Advanced Metals Group Long-Term Vision 2040," the Company is committed to contributing to the advancement and innovation of society as a global leader in advanced materials. To realize this vision, the Company is working to enhance quality management across the entire supply chain.
The Technology Development Center, the Company's research and development hub for next-generation products and technologies, conducts R&D with a view to anticipating future market needs, particularly in the Company's "Focus Businesses, "which are positioned at the core of its growth strategy. The Center also works closely with the Company's business divisions to translate R&D results into commercial products and businesses.
Markets served by the Focus Businesses, including AI and data centers, smartphones, and mobility, are characterized by rapid technological innovation as well as increasingly sophisticated and diverse market requirements. To enhance competitiveness in these markets, it is essential to differentiate products through advanced technologies and to anticipate customer and market needs so that they can be rapidly reflected in product development. It is also necessary to systematize the entire process, from identifying customer needs through R&D and commercialization, to improve the reliability and reproducibility of development activities. In addition, mechanisms are needed to share knowledge gained and quality-related issues identified during the development process across the organization and apply them to subsequent development activities.
Based on this recognition, the Technology Development Center has established a quality management system (QMS) conforming to ISO 9001 and has now issued a self-declaration of conformity to the standard. Through this initiative, the Center has systematized the processes spanning the planning, development, and evaluation of R&D projects through to the delivery of results. It has also established a framework for rapidly delivering high-quality results through continuous improvement.
As part of the self-declaration process, an auditor from the Company registered with the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA)2) conducted the audit. By having an auditor with an in-depth understanding of the Company's businesses and development activities review the system in line with actual operational processes, the Center was able to identify specific workplace issues while maintaining impartiality and use the findings to enhance the effectiveness of its QMS.
Going forward, the Technology Development Center will use a common quality management framework to accurately reflect customer requirements and business needs in its technology development activities. The Center will also promote the standardization of development processes, the prevention of quality issues through information sharing, stronger cross-functional collaboration, and the establishment of a robust PDCA cycle. Through these efforts, the Center aims to improve the speed and reliability of development, steadily translate R&D results into commercial products, and enhance its overall development competitiveness and commercialization capabilities.
The JX Advanced Metals Group will continue to improve its QMS and provide high-functionality, high-performance products and services that meet market requirements, thereby contributing to the advancement and innovation of society as a global leader in advanced materials.
