JX Advanced Metals Corporation

Expansion of Copper Titanium Alloy Production Capacity to Meet Growing AI-Related Demand

JX Advanced Metals Corporation (President: Hayashi Yoichi, hereinafter "the Company") has decided to invest in expanding the production capacity of copper titanium alloys in response to growing demand. At the Company' s Kurami Works (Samukawa-machi, Koza-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture), new heat treatment equipment will be installed. In addition, new melting and casting equipment will be installed at Muroran Copper Alloy Co., Ltd. (President: Shimizu Akihiro, hereinafter "Muroran Copper Alloy"), a joint venture between the Company and The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (President: Matsuo Toshio). Through these investments, the Company plans to increase its copper titanium alloy production capacity by 50% from fiscal 2026 levels by fiscal 2029.

Copper titanium alloys are high-performance copper alloys that combine excellent strength and formability. They have been widely adopted as connector materials for smartphones, personal computers, and other electronic devices. In recent years, the rapid proliferation of generative AI has accelerated the construction of AI data centers around the world. As connectors for AI servers require materials capable of maintaining superior strength and reliability under high-temperature operating conditions, copper titanium alloys have seen a sharp increase in demand. Looking ahead, the market is likely to grow further as physical AI technologies become increasingly integrated into robotics, mobility, and other applications.

In light of these market conditions, the Company has decided to invest in expanding production capacity in order to meet rising demand and strengthen its stable supply framework. The heat treatment process to be expanded at the Kurami Works is a critical process for bringing out the properties of copper titanium alloys and had become a production bottleneck due to the rapid increase in demand. The expansion of melting and casting facilities at Muroran Copper Alloy will not only help meet growing demand but will also be important in building a more robust supply framework from a business continuity planning (BCP) perspective.

The Company is also moving forward with the supply of copper titanium alloys produced using 100% recycled raw materials. Leveraging its proprietary impurity separation and contamination control technologies, it ensures performance and quality equivalent to those of conventional products while significantly reducing environmental impact. Through these efforts, the Company will continue to propose materials that support both sustainability and high performance*1.

The Company will continue to contribute to the development of a sustainable society by providing a stable supply of advanced materials that support progress in the fields of advanced information and communications technologies, robotics, and other emerging industries.
