JX Advanced Metals Launches Sales of Rolled Copper Foil Made with 100% Recycled Copper Raw Materials

JX Advanced Metals Corporation (President: Hayashi Yoichi; hereinafter "the Company") has commenced full-scale sales of rolled copper foil made with 100% recycled copper raw materials in October 2026 as part of its "Cu again" project*1

.

The Company has taken the lead in establishing a resource circulation system in collaboration with the entire supply chain, including its Group companies and customers, and has been working to implement resource circulation across society ahead of the industry. As part of these initiatives, the Company has introduced 100% recycled electrolytic copper*2 and 100% recycled high-performance copper alloys*3. It is now expanding these initiatives to rolled copper foil.

This product uses recycled materials collected by the Company's Group companies and copper refined through a process that includes a dedicated smelting furnace newly introduced in 2025. By melting and processing exclusively recycled raw materials, the Company has achieved the use of 100% recycled copper raw materials. The Company's rolled copper foil requires copper with extremely low impurity levels compared with competing products in order to achieve high flexibility and support fine-pitch circuit applications. Through its advanced recycling process, centered on proprietary impurity separation technologies developed over many years, together with its accumulated operational expertise, the Company has established stable production of recycled rolled copper foil offering the same level of quality as its conventional products. It also plans to obtain applicable UL certification for the product.

The Company's rolled copper foil offers excellent flexibility and durability through its proprietary crystal structure control technology and is available in a broad range of foil thicknesses. It is used as a material for flexible printed circuit boards (FPCs) incorporated into smartphones, wearable devices, mobility equipment, and other products. The Company holds an approximately 80% share of the global market for rolled copper foil used in these applications, making it one of the key materials supporting today's information society.

Demand for rolled copper foil is expected to grow further, driven by the increasing functionality and miniaturization of devices associated with the incorporation of AI capabilities, as well as growth in the wearable device market. In addition to demand for use as shielding materials in AI servers and other applications, demand is also expected to increase in the industrial equipment and robotics sectors. As market demand for recycled materials continues to increase, the Company will further contribute to its customers' sustainability initiatives by expanding the supply of rolled copper foil made with 100% recycled copper raw materials.

As a Group-wide initiative, the Company will continue proposing rolled copper foil made with 100% recycled raw materials to a broad range of customers as an advanced material that contributes to reducing environmental impact, while also expanding its product lineup.

About the "Cu again" Project

Launched in January 2024, the "Cu again" project initially focused on

promoting the use of 100% recycled electrolytic copper. We have now

expanded its scope to include various copper products produced by our

group, promoting resource recycling. "Cu again" signifies our wish for

copper (Cu) to return as scrap after fulfilling its role in society, be

recycled, and again support the future society. Under this project, our

group will continue to advance resource recycling of various copper

products, including electrolytic copper and high-performance copper

alloys, in collaboration with every party in the supply chain.
