The Cheerful Support Office accepts second- and third-year students from special education schools for on-site training, as well as first-year students for workplace experience. These programs give students opportunities to apply what they have learned at school and work alongside employees, helping them understand what working entails, what is expected of working adults, what challenges they need to address, and what kind of work they may want to pursue after graduation. These programs are also meaningful learning experiences for employees at the Cheerful Support Office. Teaching and guiding the trainees gives employees opportunities to think about how to explain tasks clearly and to reflect on their own work practices. The office accepted 25 students in fiscal 2024.

The Cheerful Support Office of JX Advanced Metals Corporate Service hosted workplace tours
for 100 first-year students (10 classes) from the Tokyo Metropolitan Eifuku Academy’s

for learning among students by allowing them to observe graduates from the academy at work
in the Cheerful Support Office. Employees explained how they conduct various tasks,
including sorting and sending mail, clipping work, cleaning activities, and replenishing
office supplies. The students listened attentively and took notes with great interest.
The discussion session after the workplace visit included presentations from employees who
shared what they focused on during their time at special education school and why they
decided to join the company. Students asked about moments when employees feel a sense of
purpose and what they consider important in their work, and teachers also asked which
school experiences have been useful in the employee's current roles. Each employee
responded carefully and in their own words.

students grasp what working involves and what matters in the workplace. The school also
reported that the tours encouraged students to think about what they need to focus on as
they move forward. The tours helped students familiarize themselves with the idea of

Grass Cutting Activity
Every July, JX Advanced Metals cuts the grass along the road leading to the Iwato Mine (an area we use daily for commuting and transporting products) as well as other surrounding roads. The total length of the roads mowed extends 2.8 kilometers, and nine employees working at the Iwato Mine divide the sections among themselves to cut the grass. Given the large area and the fact that ordinary brush cutters alone are not powerful enough, the volunteers install grass-cutting attachments to heavy machinery to work more efficiently. The large volume of cut grass is then collected using the heavy machinery. The skills learned in operating heavy-equipment at the mine come in handy for other activities as well!
