Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I)
We recruit diverse human resources and develop systems for flexible work styles, supporting a balance of work with childcare and nursing care. Through our efforts, we aim to create workplace environments where everyone feels fulfilled in their work and contributes their talents freely.
Women’s Empowerment
We foster women’s empowerment and support women in their career development through programs that offer work styles in accordance with life stages, including flextime, telecommuting, and childbirth and childcare support. The Company sponsors DE&I forums independently and in collaboration with industry associations, and we promote empowerment to employees through communications from top management and people involved in women’s empowerment in the workplace. We also provide training to raise awareness of gender bias and behavioral changes that address this bias, in addition to supporting personal networking activities among female employees. Furthermore, we actively work to increase the number of female employees and promote an understanding of the Company through information sessions and communications tailored specifically for female students. We continue to delve deeper into and expand our efforts in this area, striving to be a company that encourages the success of female employees.
Childbirth, Childcare, and Family Care
We consider creating an environment where employees can continue to work with peace of mind while balancing work with childcare and family care to be important . We continue to develop systems and strengthen support structures that encourage flexible work styles.
To accommodate diverse lifestyles, we introduced a flextime system with no core hours, a short-time work system, and a telework system, all designed to provide employees a choice in work style according to their circumstances. We publish the Hand-book for Supporting Balancing Childcare or Nursing Care that covers internal and external systems and procedures related to childcare and family care. In addition, we create environments that facilitate prompt access to necessary information, including the external contact points to consult with experts in areas related to childcare and nursing care. In this way, we not only encourage the use of systems and programs, but also foster a culture of mutual support throughout the workplace. Our child-care and family care support systems exceed the levels legally mandated. We also conduct other initiatives to reduce the financial and psychological burden on employees through expense subsidies, external consultation services, and supporting employees when they are ready to return to work after having retired for childcare or family care reasons.
Fostering Diversity
The Company conducts training for all employees to raise awareness on diversity. In doing so, we aim to create a workplace environment that enables diverse employees to work with peace of mind. Our trainings include programs for employees to learn and gain an understanding of diversity in terms of gender, age, nationality, and cultural backgrounds. We also emphasize the importance of respecting different points of view to encourage innovation and overall corporate growth.
Support System for Male Employees Taking Childcare Leave
We have provided support for childcare for some time, and in recent years the percentage of male employees taking childcare leave has been increasing. In addition to providing presentations about our system, we are working to spread awareness of support measures by holding panel discussions with employees who have taken childcare leave or are balancing work with childcare in our Career Design Training that we have held since fiscal 2020.
Employing and Retaining People With Disabilities
We employ and retain people with disabilities in response to their desires to play active roles in society. In January 2022, the Company's head office established the Cheerful Support Office, consisting of individuals with mental and developmental disabilities. Cheerful Support members share tasks, such as administrative support work (printing, typing, sending mail), cleaning, and organizing meeting rooms, according to their individual situations. In April 2023, we made JX Advanced Metals Corporate Services* a special-purpose subsidiary and transferred the function of the Cheerful Support Office to the company, continuing our commitment to help employees grow and improve skills through day-to-day tasks. Every major JX Advanced Metals site supports the contribution of members with disabilities as valuable assets.
In Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, we founded Uchihara Farms to grow a variety of crops. The facility plans cultivation according to the season and teaches agriculture. Produce harvested from the farm is used at JX Advanced Metals cafeterias and at various events. Produce is also donated to a children's cafeteria near the office and sold in the area around the farm. In addition, we hold tours of workplaces and meetings to foster a shared awareness for group-wide understanding of employees with disabilities.

Cheerful Support Office
We established the Cheerful Support Office at our head office as an organization where employees with disabilities can play an active role. The name Cheerful Support Office was chosen through an open call for suggestions from employees across the JX Advanced Metals Group and reflects our commitment to increasing employment for persons with disabilities. The Cheerful Support Office handles numerous tasks including printing, data entry, mail dispatch, cleaning, and meeting room organization, dividing duties among team members based on individual strengths. Through daily work, each member aims to grow and develop skills at a pace that suits them.
At every site, members with disabilities contribute as valuable assets.
Agricultural and Welfare Cooperative Project, Uchihara Farms
We established Uchihara Farms as an agricultural and welfare cooperative project in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture as an organization under JX Advanced Metals Corporate Service Co., Ltd. The farm aims to contribute to social welfare through farming performed by people with disabilities. The farm also aims to contribute to the well-being of Company employees by utilizing agriculture for employee education and company events. With the cooperation of Nihon Nogyo Jissen Gakuen, the farm leases approximately 7,000 m2 of land from the organization and employs people with disabilities to farm the land.
Harvested vegetables are used in the company cafeteria, provided at various events, donated to children's cafeterias, and sold at direct sales outlets.
In addition, Uchihara Farms serves as an in-house training facility to promote an understanding of people with disabilities.
Measures for Diverse Work Styles
As part of our efforts to energize individuals and organizations, we are actively working to create an environment where a diverse range of people can work with a sense of motivation. Our efforts include the creation of an environment where people can work fully demonstrating their capabilities even if they are pregnant, raising a child, or caring for a family member. We provide legally mandated systems to support having and raising children, and offer our own unique systems as well. Our handbook on the support available for employees offers tips on balancing work with childcare or family care, provides an overview of the public services and company systems available for their use, and describes the roles managers should play in this context.
Remote Work System
As part of our efforts to create an environment where a diverse range of people can work with a sense of motivation, we introduced a remote work system in January 2018.
This system allows employees to choose between working in the office and working from home according to their duties and circumstances. We leverage remote work not only when childcare or caregiving limits how employees can work, but also as one of our initiatives to support more productive work.
Introduction of a Flextime System Without Mandatory Core Hours
Based on our flextime system with core hours, we introduced a flextime system without mandatory core hours at the head office and for a portion of Isohara Works as a more in-depth measure to encourage more autonomous work styles.
We have also defined our flextime system as covering 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., excluding late-night hours, to create a system where employees can flexibly choose their work hours.
Systems for Childbirth and Childcare
The Company implements internal systems, in addition to legally-required standard systems, related to childbirth and childcare, committing ourselves to fostering environment that allows employees to balance work and childcare. We support flexible work styles, ranging from maternity leave and shorter working hours, to the use flextime systems and other styles. We are committed to providing flexible work arrangements and childcare support.

Systems for Family Care
JX Advanced Metals puts support measures in place to help employees balance work with family caregiving responsibilities. We provide up-to-date information on laws and relevant systems, as well as short educational video content, to help employees begin preparing before caregiving becomes necessary. When facing actual caregiving needs, we also offer a consultation service that enables employees to speak individually with external specialists, creating an environment that helps employees manage their caregiving responsibilities with confidence. If an eligible family member requires constant nursing care, we offer flexible work options, including shorter hours and remote work, to support employees in balancing work and home responsibilities. The Company also strives to reduce employee burdens through interviews with those who provide family care, as well as through our own nursing care assistance program. At the same time, we support sustainable career development by allowing such employees to participate in company educational programs while on family care leave, among other measures.
